Product information

Description

1) 2-in-1 protection for enhanced safetyThis 4P 40 A miniature residual current circuit breaker combines, in a single device, protection against overloads and short circuits (circuit breaker function) and protection against insulation faults / earth leakage (residual current function). It is designed to quickly cut off the power supply as soon as a fault appears, in order to limit conductor overheating, damage to equipment and above all the risk of electric shock. It is a particularly relevant solution when looking for a single device, clear to operate in the consumer unit, and suited to installations where continuity of service and the prevention of electrical accidents are priorities.2) 4-pole format: ideal for three-phase + neutral (L1/L2/L3/N)Thanks to its 4P configuration (four poles), this model is perfectly suited to 3P+N three-phase networks where it is desired to disconnect the three phases and the neutral simultaneously. It can be used as protection for a major outgoing circuit, a critical circuit or, depending on the layout of the consumer unit, at the head of a distribution zone. This choice is highly valued in environments where several loads coexist (lighting, sockets, air conditioning, small motors, equipment power supply), because it provides a more complete disconnection and safer fault management across the entire circuit concerned.3) Characteristics suited to common uses in Europe (residential & commercial)With a rated current of 40 A, the device is intended for “intermediate” power circuits, typical of advanced domestic consumer units, shops, offices, technical rooms, or small workshop installations (to be validated according to cable cross-section and load calculation). The AC 230/400 V range and 50–60 Hz compatibility make integration into standard installations easier. In the event of a solid fault, its 6 kA breaking capacity meets the needs of many standard buildings, offering a level of control suited to the short circuits encountered in most low-voltage distribution systems.4) C curve: better resistance to inrush current at start-upThe C tripping curve is recommended when the circuit supplies loads with inrush current (start-up): certain motors, pumps, ventilation systems, transformer power supplies, lighting with drivers, etc. It reduces nuisance tripping linked to transient peaks, while maintaining an effective response in the event of a genuine overload or short circuit. For the user, this results in more stable day-to-day operation, particularly useful in shops, offices and mixed installations where several devices may start simultaneously.5) Compliance and integration advice for the consumer unitCompliant with EN 61009 (residual current devices with overcurrent protection), this residual current circuit breaker meets the requirements generally expected on the European market for this type of combined protection. It is particularly suitable in areas where the risk of leakage is more likely (damp rooms, basements, near kitchens/sanitary areas, equipment with metal casing), because insulation fault detection allows rapid disconnection. For a reliable installation, it is recommended to have the wiring carried out by a qualified electrician, to observe the terminal tightening torque, and to check periodically for the absence of loosening, signs of overheating or abnormal odour in the consumer unit.
