Description

1) 2-in-1 protection: overload/short-circuit + insulation fault (earth leakage)This miniature RCBO combines in a single device thermal-magnetic protection against overloads (heating due to excessively intensive or prolonged use) and short-circuits (sudden fault, damaged cable, wiring error), as well as residual current protection against current leakage linked to ageing insulation, moisture or an appliance whose casing accidentally becomes live. In the event of a fault, it automatically cuts off the power supply to reduce the risk of electric shock and limit the likelihood of an electrical fire starting. It is a particularly relevant solution when looking to protect both people and the installation without multiplying modules in the consumer unit.2) 4P configuration: simultaneous multi-conductor disconnection, ideal for three-phaseWith its 4-pole (4P) structure, this model is designed for distributions where several conductors need to be isolated at the same time, for example in three-phase (3 phases + neutral) or in installations requiring complete disconnection of all live conductors according to the design of the consumer unit. This approach improves the consistency of protection on circuits where simple partial disconnection would be insufficient. In a shop, a workshop, a plant room, a machine room or a small production unit, the 4P provides a response suited to operating constraints: clear circuit shutdown in the event of a fault, easier maintenance and safer intervention.3) 20 A rating: suitable for common medium-power loads, with sizing recommendationThe 20 A rating is suitable for many typical uses: circuits supplying moderate-power equipment, small motors, dedicated socket groups, certain air conditioning/ventilation lines, pumps or switched-mode power supplies. To avoid nuisance tripping or conductor overheating, it is recommended to choose the rating taking into account the cable cross-section, the total power, the operating current under continuous load and an operating margin (if the circuit is often close to 20 A, it is better to check the overall sizing rather than “increase the rating”). This logic corresponds to good selection practice in a distribution board, particularly when looking for stable operation over time.4) Electrical characteristics: 230–400 V AC, 50/60 Hz, curve CThis miniature RCBO operates over an AC 230 to 400 V range and accepts frequencies of 50/60 Hz, making it compatible with the majority of common domestic and commercial networks. The C tripping curve is a balanced choice for many real loads: it better tolerates inrush currents (starting motors, compressors, certain lighting or power supplies) than a more sensitive curve, while still remaining protective in the event of a fault. This reduces the risk of tripping when starting a device, while maintaining responsive protection capability during a short-circuit or sustained overload.5) 6 kA breaking capacity, EN 61009 standard: safety and consumer unit integrationWith a breaking capacity of 6 kA, the device is sized for many usual electrical board scenarios (homes, small commercial premises, light workshops). In an environment close to a transformer or where the prospective short-circuit current is high, it is still advisable to have the required level validated by calculation/study. The EN 61009 reference (commonly associated with RCBOs) facilitates integration into a “European-style” approach: rational choice of protections, installation consistency and better readability for maintenance. Installation recommended by a qualified electrician: tightening to torque, checking the condition of the conductors, verification of tripping and priority diagnosis (insulation/load/device) in the event of repeated tripping rather than replacement with a higher rating.
