I bought this saw because I already have a Dewalt XR.Flex 54 volt battery eco system, so I have XR18 and XR54 Dewalt tools,
I have already had the opportunity to try circular saws in 18 and 36V (at 2x18V and 1X36V) from another manufacturer, it's very good and it works, but.....
Dewalt in XR54, it's very good too, I didn't expect that, I did the comparison with its sister in XR18 that a friend has and it's better, the circular saw in XR54 gives a better cutting stability in terms of motor power, its felt in 30 mm cuts in plywood and solid wood with respect to the XR18, it feels like you have almost as much power as an electric circular saw of 1000 Watts, of course not the autonomy in view of a battery-type use, but it holds up rather well over time, like the average of other manufacturers.
The power at the rendezvous,
The bare XR54 saw price,
The ease of use,
The cutting light LED
Designed for cutting panels with or without rail
Don't be too afraid of the construction site
Quick blade brake
Very flexible and fast protective cover
The blade supplied with the saw makes the panels like soft butter, a treat.
Tstak box supplied with the saw simply well done.
Protective cover not very ergonomic when used on a rail
No protective hood retainer when used on rails, this will improve ergonomics when adjusting the height of the blade
The sole of the saw lacks a stop in the guide groove that goes on the rail, I know that this saw was designed for panel cutting use on site, but this will allow better exploitation of the beast on its rail and a optimal guidance of the sole.
In short, I am satisfied with this Dewalt XR54 DCS579NT-XJ saw,
Despite its shortcomings, given the purchase price, its use thought out by Dewalt (panel and board cut on site), its reliability, its robustness, its transport case, all simple but well made and rather solid, I'm really glad I bought it for the use that I actually see even going off the beaten track for it.
Not bad at all Dewalt, they just have to make it evolve and correct its faults.
