The fact of having a high-performance hollow chisel mortiser ensures impeccable work quality when carrying out assembly operations. The hollow chisel mortiser is a woodworking and cabinetry machine used to drill longitudinal holes for the assembly of constituent parts of a piece of furniture. The machine operates by oscillation and is intended for making mortises, a successive wood joint.
The hollow chisel mortiser is equipped with a hollow square chisel, within which a spiral bit of diameter equal to the internal dimension of the chisel rotates. The chisel is provided with teeth on the surface and also with clearance teeth on the side. The rotation speed of the bit can reach up to 1500 revolutions per minute, driven by a motorized head to which both the chisel and the bit are attached. The same motor also powers the horizontal movement of the bit along the rack and pinion column. Some models of hollow chisel mortisers allow for off-table work thanks to a 180° rotation of the column on its base. The hollow chisel mortiser is also an easy-to-move piece of equipment. Another advantage of the hollow chisel is the absence of flexing problems, thus creating perfectly rectangular mortises.
