    lawnmowers. It was founded in 1965 by the Swede Karl Dahlman. Since its inception, it has been part of the garden equipment giant Husqvarna AB. Its flagship product is the famous orange air-cushion lawnmower; Flymo is actually a contraction of flying mower. Karl Dahlman was inspired by the invention of Sir Christopher Sydney Cockerell, a member of several British royal societies. This prolific inventor came up with a number of systems, including the prototype air-cushion mower, the air-cushion train and the hovercraft. Karl Dahlman perfected it and won a gold medal at the Brussels Inventors' Fair. In 1969 he launched the first electric air-cushion lawnmower, and 8 years later adopted the colour orange. In 1983, Flymo received the Queen's Award for Technology, the highest distinction for high-tech companies in Great Britain. Other innovations followed, including the "Multi Trim", the first 2-in-1 edger and trimmer, the "GardenVac", a multi-purpose cleaning tool....
