Operation
To use the multimeter, follow these steps:- Choose the correct setting based on the capacitance to be measured:
- For general capacitance less than 0.01 µF, use the x10k setting.
- For capacitance approximately 1 to 10 µF, choose the x1k setting.
- For capacitances greater than 47 µF, choose the x100 or x10 setting.
- After each test, Short-circuit the capacitor with a wire to discharge it before proceeding to the next test.
- Note that electrolytic capacitors have polarity; connect the black test lead to the positive electrode and the red test lead to the negative electrode.
- Good capacitor performance is indicated by a deflection of the pointer during detection, which gradually returns to zero.
