A drip irrigation system is a solution that's easy to install, economical, and eco-friendly... Why hesitate? Particularly suited for watering hedges, vegetable gardens, or more broadly any linear planting, micro-irrigation has only advantages! It will provide a both constant and precise watering to your plants. You can adapt it to the needs of each plant. Feeding the plant directly at its root allows for optimized growth while preventing the proliferation of weeds. Plus, you won't have to wet the foliage: say goodbye to problems of scorching and certain diseases such as powdery mildew.
There are two types of drip emitters, intermediate and terminal ones. As their names suggest, terminal emitters are designed to be placed at the end of a hose while intermediates can be placed anywhere along the network. To best tailor the watering to each plant's needs, we advise choosing a model with an adjustable flow rate. The characteristic "output" represents the width of the emitter head through which water will drip. For example, on a 180° head, water will come out from half the head. If you want to set up drip irrigation for a long line, we recommend choosing a self-regulating emitter model. It will be capable of providing the same flow rate whether it's placed at the beginning or in the middle of the hose.
For installation, most often you will need to drill a hole in the capillary tube to insert the emitter. To ensure this hole is clean and of the correct diameter, our irrigation expert recommends using a hole puncher for hoses. Don't neglect its importance, if this hole is poorly made you risk a leakage problem and water loss. The placement of the emitter is crucial, if it moves, the watering will be offset and the plant will not receive enough water. To avoid this problem, simply install stake tubes that will fix the tubes to the ground. Don't hesitate to use them where you are placing emitters.
