General description

The MAX7219 Dot Matrix MCU LED 4 in 1 4 x 64 Display Module is an integrated common cathode input/output serial display driver designed to connect a microprocessor to an 8-digit 7-segment digital LED display, a bar graph display, or 64 independent LEDs. It features a low power shutdown mode and supports cascading multiple modules.

Installation

Connect the left side of the module to the input port and the right side to the output port.

For a single module, connect the input port to the CPU.

For multiple modules, connect the input terminal of each module to the CPU and the output terminal of one module to the input terminal of the next module.

Example connections for a 51 microcontroller: CCV→5V, GND→GND, DIN→P2.2, CS→P2.1, CLK→P2.0.

Usage

Utilizes a convenient four-wire serial interface for communication with microprocessors.

Allows addressing of each data item during updates without overwriting all displays.

Users can choose whether to encode each data item.
