Product information

Description

1) Reliable circuit protection (without residual current function)This 3P C10A MCB miniature circuit breaker is designed to protect electrical lines and equipment against the main faults encountered in distribution boards: overloads (addition of power loads, prolonged operation beyond the permissible current) and short circuits (insulation fault or incident causing a sudden rise in current). In the event of an anomaly, it trips automatically and cuts off the power supply in order to limit the risks of conductor overheating, insulation degradation, or even fire. Important: this is a model without residual current protection (no earth leakage detection); it therefore primarily protects the installation and equipment, and not directly against the risk of electric shock. For exposed circuits (bathroom, kitchen, outdoor sockets, damp rooms), common practice in France is generally to pair it upstream with a DDR/RCD (RCCB residual current circuit breaker) or an RCBO residual current breaker, depending on the board architecture and the electrician’s requirements.2) 3-pole configuration: simultaneous disconnection and three-phase useThe 3P (3-pole) version allows control and protection of three phase conductors with simultaneous disconnection, which is particularly suitable for three-phase circuits or any application where coordinated de-energising of the three phases is desired (maintenance, intervention safety, prevention of “missing phase” operation). It is commonly found in domestic boards, small shops, workshops and control cabinets to protect dedicated outgoing circuits: auxiliaries, small machines, control power supply, fans, small pumps, etc. If the installation only requires a single-phase circuit (phase + neutral), a 1P or 1P+N model may be more appropriate; however, as soon as the installation is three-phase or grouped disconnection is required, the 3P becomes a logical choice and consistent with usual wiring practices.3) 10 A rating and C curve: ideal compromise for loads with inrush currentWith a rated current of 10 A, this circuit breaker is intended for circuits whose current in normal operation remains ≤ 10 A. Selection of the rating must take account of the actual load, installation conditions (temperature, cable grouping, installation method) and sizing rules: allowing a margin avoids nuisance tripping and chronic overheating. The C tripping curve is widely used in Europe because it offers better tolerance to inrush currents than a B curve: it is suitable for loads with a more “energetic” start-up (small motors, fans, transformers, switch-mode power supplies, certain lighting). This provides a good balance between continuity of service (fewer trips at start-up) and effective protection in the event of a solid fault.4) Electrical characteristics and compliance: suitable for 230/400 V low-voltage boardsThis model is rated for use in AC 230–400 V at 50/60 Hz, which corresponds to standard low-voltage single-phase and three-phase networks (France/Europe). It is stated to comply with EN 60898-1, a common reference for miniature circuit breakers intended for domestic and similar applications, guaranteeing safety and performance requirements (behaviour under overload/short circuit, insulation capability, endurance). Its 6 kA breaking capacity is suitable for many building environments; however, as in practice the prospective short-circuit current depends on the upstream supply (proximity to transformer, cable cross-section and length), it is recommended to verify the suitability of the Icn for the installation, ideally by a professional. In more “severe” configurations (higher fault currents), a higher breaking capacity may need to be selected.5) Integration advice for a board: DIN rail installation and safe useDesigned to be mounted in a board, this miniature circuit breaker is generally installed on a DIN rail (standard format in Europe). For safe and durable installation: switch off the main power supply before intervention, follow the wiring diagram, ensure the terminals are properly tightened (correct torque), and periodically check that no loosening has occurred, a frequent cause of overheating. As it has no residual current protection, it does not replace a device for personal protection; it is ideally integrated into an architecture where residual current protection is provided upstream (30 mA RCCB, for example, depending on the circuit). This product therefore provides a simple and standardised solution for segmenting the board, protecting a three-phase outgoing circuit or three phases simultaneously, and improving installation safety against overloads and short circuits, while maintaining practical operation (disconnection for maintenance, circuit identification, selectivity coordinated with the upstream device).
