Description
With a motor shield, this can make a nice, tidy platform for robotics and mechatronics. Here's a design for a complete motor shield that can power many simple to moderately complex projects.
4 H-bridges: The L293D chipset provides 0.6 A per bridge (1.2 A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, 4.5 V to 12 V. Pull-up resistors keep the motors off during power-up.
2 interfaces for connected 5 V servos. For Arduino's dedicated high-resolution timer - no jitter!
Up to 4 bidirectional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (so, approximately 0.5% resolution); Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, dual coil, interleaved, or microstepping. Large terminal block connectors for easy connection of wires (10-22AWG) and power. With a raised reset button at the top. 2-pin terminal block for connecting an external power supply, for separate logic/motor power supplies.
