The V310 OBD II/EOBD barcode reader is designed for all OBD II compliant vehicles, including those equipped with the next-generation Control Area Network (CAN) protocol. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires that all vehicles and light trucks sold in the U.S. in 1996, as well as updated vehicles (cars), meet the OBD II standard. This includes all domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. A small number of 1994 and 1995 model year gasoline vehicles meet the OBD II standard. To check if a 1994 or 1995 vehicle is OBD II compliant, check the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label located under the hood or next to the radiator on most vehicles. If the vehicle is OBD II compliant, the label will state "OBD II Certified." Furthermore, government regulations require all OBD II compliant vehicles to be equipped with a 16-pin "universal" Data Link Connector (DLC). For your vehicle to be OBD II compliant, it must have a 16-pin DLC (Data Link Connector) underneath, and the vehicle's emissions control information label must indicate that the vehicle is OBD II compliant.
