Description
1) 2-in-1 protection for enhanced safety (RCBO)This modular 1P+N type C 40 A residual current circuit breaker combines in a single device protection against overloads and short circuits (circuit breaker function) and protection against insulation faults and current leakage (residual current function). It effectively secures a circuit in a home as well as in small commercial premises by cutting off the power supply as soon as an abnormal situation is detected. Compared with a circuit breaker that is only magnetothermal, it adds an essential barrier against the risks of indirect contact, humidity, ageing cables, appliances whose casing may become live, or leaks caused by infiltration. Expected result: reduced risk of electric shock, limitation of line overheating and reduced probability of material damage in the event of a fault.2) Modular 1P+N format suited to common single-phase circuitsThe 1P+N configuration means that the device provides control and protection for a phase (L) and neutral (N) circuit, very common in domestic consumer units and many small professional premises. This makes distribution easier to read, one circuit equals one protection, particularly for isolating a specific area or use, for example a line dedicated to a piece of equipment. The format is designed for integration in a distribution board or small control enclosure on a DIN rail depending on the configuration, in order to achieve a cleaner, clearer and easier-to-maintain installation. To avoid multiplying modules, separate circuit breaker and residual current switch, the all-in-one solution is appreciated for saving space and simplifying wiring.3) 40 A rating and type C curve for high-demand circuits and inrush currentsThe C40 rating (40 A) corresponds to a high current, intended for more heavily loaded circuits, provided that the cable cross-section and installation design are consistent. The type C curve is recommended when loads have a start-up inrush current, motors, compressors, fans, certain pumps, because it better tolerates brief peaks without nuisance tripping while still providing protection in the event of a real fault. The choice of a 40 A device must not be oversized, as this may delay tripping under overload and encourage conductor overheating. It is advisable to validate the sizing according to the power of the appliances, line length and cross-sections, in accordance with current practices.4) Electrical characteristics and compliance: 50 to 60 Hz, EN 61009, 6 kA breaking capacityThis model is specified for use on AC 50 to 60 Hz and an indicated voltage range of AC 2230 V to 400 V, to be checked according to the product marking and network configuration. It is stated to comply with EN 61009, associated with residual current circuit breakers (RCBO), providing a recognised technical framework for design and testing requirements. The 6 kA breaking capacity is suitable for many residential terminal boards and small shops, when the prospective short-circuit current remains compatible. If the installation is close to a transformer or in an environment where the short-circuit current may be higher, verification by a professional remains necessary to choose the appropriate breaking level.5) Recommended applications and good practice: wet rooms, dedicated circuits, periodic testsThis 1P+N C40A residual current circuit breaker is relevant for circuits where a higher level of safety is sought: kitchen, bathroom, utility room, balcony or sheltered outdoor area, technical rooms, as well as lines dedicated to equipment exposed to humidity or increased wear. It is also suitable for protecting an outgoing circuit supplying powerful appliances, to be confirmed according to the actual power and wiring, or a group of sockets and concentrated equipment. To maintain reliability, it is recommended to carry out a periodic functional check, test button if present and according to the instructions, and to have the installation checked by an electrician in the event of repeated tripping. Objective: rapid disconnection in the event of an insulation fault, magnetothermal tripping in the event of overload and short circuit, in order to better protect people, cables and appliances on a daily basis.
