I bought this product purely for sharpening kitchen knifes , scissors , meat cleavers , axes and lawn mower blades. Even though it does a lot more, with the right jigs. You do have to plan ahead a little. Ie. . . buying the right jigs you also need at the same time. This product has a dvd for use with it, very handy. And it literally, is as easy, and effective as the dvd. Very good product, my house is now full of lightning sharp instruments every where, and will be for a very long time.

After years of sharpening on dry grinding wheel and finishing on the whetstone decide to buy the 8 inch wet grinder and it is brilliant. Quick and easy and I now actually enjoy sharpening all my chisels, that's turning tools as well as my joinery chisels and plane irons.

The Whetstone is first class - I do a lot of hand plane work on Long Planes (No7) and fine straight grained timbers — the machine gives me a sharp edge that requires little further honing ..
