Exposure to the elements forms a decorative patina on the surface that protects the steel from further corrosion.

Note on rust formation: On delivery the bowl has a reddish-brown colour. Depending on weather conditions the rust layer begins to form after 2–3 weeks and is fully developed after approx. 1.5 years.
