Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint is a high-quality, water-based paint designed to provide a tough and durable finish for metal surfaces. It can be applied directly to rust without the need for a primer, making it an ideal choice for quick and effective metal restoration. This paint offers a quick recoat time and becomes showerproof in just 30 minutes, ensuring efficient application and protection.

Installation

Ensure the metal surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease.

For bare metal, remove loose rust or paint using a wire brush or 120 grit sandpaper, then wipe down with a damp cloth.

If painting previously painted metal, lightly sand with 240 grit sandpaper if the paint is in good condition; remove flaking paint with sandpaper or a wire brush.

Stir the paint thoroughly for 2-3 minutes before application.

Apply using a paintbrush, roller, or spray (dilute with about 10% water if spraying).

Allow 2-4 hours between coats, with 3 coats recommended for rusty metal.
