General description

Ronseal 15 Year Protection Direct to Metal Paint provides a tough and durable finish for metal surfaces. This paint requires minimal preparation, can be applied directly to rust, and does not need a primer. It offers 15 years of protection and has a quick recoat time, becoming showerproof in just 30 minutes.

Installation

Before applying the paint, ensure the metal surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease. For bare metal, remove loose rust or paint with a wire brush or 120 grit sandpaper, then wipe down with a damp cloth. For previously painted metal, lightly sand if the paint is in good condition, or remove flaking paint with sandpaper or a wire brush. Be cautious with surfaces painted before 1960, as they may contain lead paint.

Usage

Stir the paint thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes before application. It can be applied using a paintbrush, roller, or sprayed (dilute with about 10% water as needed). Allow 2 to 4 hours between coats, with 3 coats recommended for rusty metal for optimal durability. The paint will be touch dry in 30 minutes after the last coat.

Other information

Aftercare: Clean brushes and rollers in warm soapy water and do not dispose of leftover paint in drains. Contact local authorities for proper disposal methods.

Maintenance: Inspect the painted surface annually for imperfections. If cracks, blisters, or scratches are found, sand off loose areas and touch up with 2 coats of Direct to Metal Paint.
