Stand Scan Modes
In stand detection mode, three different depths are available: 12 mm (1/2 inch), 25 mm (1 inch), and 38 mm (1.5 inches). First, select StudScan mode, place the stud finder on the wall, and press the detection button on the side of the device to calibrate it. The stud finder will indicate the stud's position with an audible signal, a flashing light, or a visual indicator. For more accurate measurements, start the scan in 12 mm (0.5 inch) mode. Note: Do not move the scanner during calibration and calibrate the device on the wall before each scan. Metal Scan Mode: In this mode, the stud finder can locate magnetic metals up to a depth of 60 mm (2.3 inches). Note: When magnetic metal is detected, the display will show a magnetic marker. If the detected metal is not metal, the screen displays a non-magnetic symbol.
AC Scan Mode
In this mode, unshielded power cords and electrical wires are not detected deeper than 51 mm (2 inches), not in concrete, in pipes, behind plywood walls or metal cladding, or if there is moisture in the environment or on the scanned surface.
Important: Do not move or shake the scanner during calibration and wait a few seconds for the calibration to be complete. In "Bar" mode, calibrate the device against the wall to be detected before each scan. In "AC/Metal" mode, hold it in the air for calibration.
If the bar detector is lifted from the wall or vibrates, it must be recalibrated; otherwise, the analysis result will be affected. If the bar is deeper than set in the selected mode, no complete bars will be displayed on the screen. Calibration Button

Anything closer or with a different width cannot be a stud, beam, or fire barrier.
Tips: Don't rely solely on the stand detector to detect objects behind the scanned surface. Use other information sources to detect objects before they enter the surface.
