General description

This accessory extends the functions of the Heated Bat Box to become a programmable heated bat box. It can be fitted to new Heated Bat Boxes or retro-fitted to boxes already installed. Designed to match the simple aesthetics of the temperature controller, it is the same size and can be positioned side by side or stacked on top to save space. The Yearly Programmer allows for up to 16 separate heating periods per year, although most applications will typically require just one heating period, such as switching on in Spring (e.g., 15 April) and off in Autumn (e.g., 1 November).

Installation

The installation of the plug and play Yearly Programmer is straightforward and does not require any tools or particular expertise. It can be installed in a few minutes by connecting it to the Heated Bat Box inside the building next to the temperature controller using the existing connectors. After connecting, the current time and date need to be set, along with the dates for switching the heater on and off.

Usage

Once set, the Yearly Programmer will switch the bat box heater on and off on the same dates every year. It draws power for switching from the temperature controller and retains the time and date settings using a small internal battery, eliminating the need for a separate power supply and additional cables. The bat box's temperature controller continues to regulate the temperature inside the bat box, and the protection against electric shock provided by the RCD plug also covers the Yearly Programmer.
