Forcing, mulching, bird and insect protection, or winter proofing; many trees and plants require special protections. Our gardening experts have found the best brands at low prices: INTERMAX, TRELLINET. At the bottom of this page, find all our advice on choosing the right plant protection.
Your vegetable garden, too, requires certain precautions. Indeed, it is important to protect your vegetable plants from insect attacks and to optimize the plant’s growing conditions. To start the growth of your lettuces, zucchinis, or other vegetables, we recommend placing them under a forcing bell. These are equipped with holes so that the plant can continue to breathe. The products known as "for forcing" are designed so that you can grow any vegetable even outside the ideal season. In general, this is made possible by a slight modification of the crop's climatic conditions – especially temperature. We offer forcing bells as well as forcing films that you can fix with hoops and stakes.
If you want to bring a bit of originality to your garden, why not plant oranges, lemon trees, olive trees, palms, or other tropical and Mediterranean plants? Don't worry, it's possible even under the French climate! However, these trees do not withstand frost, which is why it is essential to install a winter fleece before the winter arrives. Above all, don't forget to wrap both the trunk and the leaves and to tie it up well so that it stays in place all season long.
There is one last type of protection: mulching fabrics. These do not cover the plant but are installed on the ground all around it. For a low price, these mulching fabrics promote plant growth for several reasons. Firstly, they will prevent weeds from growing around your plants – remember to weed well before installing it! Moreover, they will reduce the amount of water needed for watering while optimizing it since the evaporation phenomenon will be much less significant than on bare soil. These mulching fabrics will also help to keep the various factors influencing the quality of the soil – moisture, mineral concentration... - at a constant level. Finally, your fruits and vegetables will stay much cleaner. If you are fond of gardening, our gardening specialists strongly recommend installing mulching fabrics around each of your plantings.
