A pool cover reel is a piece of equipment that eases the handling and storage of pool covers. Indeed, laying down a pool cover can be somewhat cumbersome, hence the usefulness of a pool cover reel. This equipment not only facilitates installation but also ensures that the cover is properly folded. Here's how a pool cover reel works.
A pool cover reel is equipment made of a stainless steel or aluminum axis. It consists of a long metal pole installed between two T-bars, one of which is usually equipped with wheels to facilitate its movement. The cover is laid out across the width of the pool. Some models can be permanently installed on the pool deck. Sturdy straps equipped with clips are suspended from the long central bar. These clips are attached to the cover to allow it to be rolled up on the reel. Several criteria should be considered when purchasing a pool cover reel.
Although the general design of a pool cover reel is standard, there are a few differences between models:
- aluminum or stainless steel: both metals are robust and can withstand the elements;
- the dimensions of the cover must be adapted to the size of the pool knowing that a large cover with a stainless steel structure is more suitable for a large pool;
- plastic or rubber wheels: some less expensive models use thin plastic wheels. After a few years of exposure to pool water and the sun, it is possible that the plastic may crack or deteriorate. Thicker rubber wheels are resistant. They also last longer, saving time and money.
