A pool electrolyzer is also called a salt electrolyzer because it requires the addition of salt to the pool water. Pool electrolyzers are generally equipped with a flow and salt quantity detector, and also a pH meter to optimally regulate water treatment and its functioning. The most advanced models also detect if the pool is covered and reduce the electrolysis accordingly to stabilize the water quality.
The maintenance of the pool electrolyzer is limited to adding salt to the pool water to maintain its level between 3 and 5 g/L and to the replacement of the cell when the electrodes are worn and eroded. The electrodes are more durable when the electrolyzer has an option for automatic polarity reversal that destroys limescale deposits.
