Scaffolding accessories: make the right choice
Designed for high-rise construction sites, scaffolding is an essential device to ensure the completion of the work. Each component of the scaffolding is an important part to successfully assemble it. To work safely, each accessory must comply with standards and be properly installed. Scaffolding comes in several models:
- fixed scaffolding;
- rolling scaffolding;
- ultra-reinforced scaffolding;
- special use scaffolding.
However, the basic accessories remain the same:
- platforms: The main elements, the platforms allow workers to place their tools and move around safely;
- tubes: Particularly important, these are one of the accessories that can serve as uprights, diagonals, or guardrails;
- couplers: Intended to connect the tubes, they can be made of steel or cast iron and must comply with the EN 74 standard;
- adjustable bases and castors: These are the components that support the load of the tubes and adjust the height suitable for workers. The wheels are intended for rolling scaffolding;
- anchors: These prevent the unintended movement or toppling of the scaffolding.
For fixed scaffolding, the elements can be easily assembled to reach the work area. Being less than 12 meters high, it is assembled without using tools. Fixed scaffolding accessories notably consist of:
- adjustable screw jacks;
- reinforced base frames;
- intermediate frames;
- bracing;
- one or more trapdoor platforms.
It is important to consider the use, working height, allowable load, and future uses before choosing scaffolding. Each accessory is essential for properly assembling the structure, hence the need to purchase complete scaffolding with all the necessary components.
