The socket ratchet is a complementary tool to a set of keys that includes flat, mixed, and pipe keys. It is comprised of a handle ending in a ratchet mechanism with 24 to 80 teeth. At its end, an output square accommodates interchangeable sockets. A lever or wheel allows reversing the tightening direction.

This ratchet mechanism allows to tighten or loosen bolts by making back-and-forth movements without removing the key. The ratchet also varies according to the number of teeth. The more teeth there are, the more the ratchet socket set allows working in a confined space. This type of tool is ideal for hard-to-reach nuts.
