Polyurethane floor paint has the following characteristics:
- it is suitable for glass tiles, ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, and earthenware;
- it is suitable for repainting the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and toilet floors;
- it resists water, impacts, scratches, and stains;
- it is applied without an undercoat.
Epoxy paint for floors or walls has the following characteristics:
- it consists of two components, namely a base and a hardener;
- it resists steam as well as moisture, impacts, and frequent cleaning;
- it is appreciated for its high coverage;
- it is applied in two steps without an undercoat.
Some special tile paints require the application of an undercoat to optimize their adhesion to the wall. To do this, the following steps should be followed:
- clean the surface to remove any traces of grease, dirt, or mold;
- mask the areas not to be painted with adhesive tape;
- apply the undercoat vertically and then horizontally;
- remove the adhesive strips before they fully dry.
The following information should be known for repainting a kitchen countertop:
- the paint used must be compatible with a food surface;
- applying a primer is essential to optimize the durability of the paint and its aesthetic finish;
- it is possible to apply a clear hardener over the paint for maximum protection.
Thus, the choice of tile paint primarily depends on the surface to be painted (wall, floor, or countertop). It goes without saying that replacing broken tiles and repairing joints may be necessary before applying the paint.
