Venetian blinds: make the right choice
A Venetian blind is useful for filtering sunlight and protecting the occupants of a house from prying eyes. Installed on a window or a French door, it also contributes to enhancing both the interior and exterior decor.
Some information is important to know about Venetian blinds:
- they are made of slats available in different sizes to optimize their light-blocking ability;
- they are suitable for swinging openings such as windows and French doors;
- their height can be adjusted with a cord;
- they are equipped with a tilt wand.
These accessories are manufactured from various materials:
- wooden models are appreciated for their exotic touch, the variety of shades available, and their durability over time;
- aluminum models are most often found in offices and are available in various colors;
- paper versions are less well-known than the others, but add originality to the decor.
There are two possible configurations for installing a Venetian blind.
- It can be mounted on the wall or ceiling. Whatever the support chosen, the width of the accessory to be installed must match that of the window plus 5 cm. Its height should be equal to that of the window, frame included.
- It is also possible to install it on the window sash. In this case, the width of the blind should be equal to that of the window minus 2 cm on each side. Some models can be fixed without drilling into aluminum or PVC windows.
Thus, the choice of a Venetian blind depends on the aesthetic result sought and the style of decor of the room where it will be installed. It is advisable to pay special attention to measurements to successfully install this decorative accessory. Finally, this type of blind can be cleaned simply with a microfiber cloth, regardless of its manufacturing material.
