If you need to repaint or do work in your house, don't like the window handles? Are they old and needing replacement? All different? Opt for models that you like! For a modern touch, opt for an aluminum handle with an elegant curve or a clean cut. If your interior is more rustic, choose an iron handle with a wide choice of finishes.
The Hardware team advises you in choosing your product.
Window handles are part of a room's decor and must be selected in harmony with the atmosphere of the room.
First, you need to decide between a lever handle - like a door handle - or a knob handle. A knob handle refers to a handle fixed in the center that turns (instead of being pushed down like the lever). Its profile forms a T.
The knobs or handles activate a locking mechanism, and depending on your installation, your window will be tilt-and-turn or not. The tilt-and-turn is particularly useful when it's raining, for airing a room without letting the rain in; moreover, it's more secure.
Speaking of security, you also have the option to choose a handle with a lock. You can then block the opening of the window from the inside. This prevents easy break-ins through the window. Remember that the overall security of your interior depends on the least secure point of entry.
Depending on the models, it may be specified whether the handle is to be placed on the right or left side of the window. If a handle is of the left-hand type, the handle will be placed to the left of the window, where it opens and the lever will be turned towards the inside.
There are also handles for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). These handles are suitable for people with reduced mobility because they have a shape that facilitates the opening and closing of windows.
When making your choice, consider how the handle matches with the window. If your window frame is aluminum, do not put a rustic iron handle but rather opt for a metallic handle with a fine galvanized or chrome finish.
Most squares are 7 mm in size, which is the standard size. However, be sure to check if the size of your current installation, the one you want to install or change is indeed 7 mm. It could be that your square is 6, 7, or 8 mm.
