Wood floor adhesive
no products foundAs its name suggests, parquet adhesive is used to securely fix this type of flooring to the ground. It can be applied on a screed, surfaced concrete, floating screed, particle boards, or plywood, ensuring an aesthetic and durable floor.
An essential piece of information to note about this product is: the choice depends on the parquet to be installed. Three types of adhesives should be considered:
- polymer adhesive;
- water-based vinyl adhesive;
- solvent-based vinyl adhesive.
If polymer adhesive is suitable for engineered parquets, the other two are suitable for solid parquets. Specifically, raw parquets 10 mm thick require a solvent adhesive, while thinner coatings need a water-based vinyl adhesive. Moreover, the choice of adhesive also depends on the substrate's porosity.
To choose the right adhesive to use, various questions should be considered:
- Does it offer sufficient elasticity to prevent creaking?
- Does it help reduce vibrations and impacts?
- Does it comply with technical constraints related to underfloor heating?
The gluing method must be carefully studied for the adhesive to hold and effectively fulfill its role. Three methods are available:
- bead gluing: the adhesive is spread perpendicularly to the floorboards;
- full surface gluing: the adhesive is applied over the entire surface;
- spot gluing in the holes of the insulating underlay.
It should be noted that the installation takes a few steps for optimal results:
- the adhesive should always be applied on a clean, absorbent substrate;
- full surface gluing requires the installation of a floor insulator;
- the other two gluing methods are suitable for an underlay with cavities.
Before choosing the parquet adhesive application method, it is essential to consider its adherence to the flooring. Other products such as primers may also be helpful.
