Designing the perfect space for gaming
Amp up your gaming experience by creating a dedicated area for gaming in your spare room, bedroom or living area. From gaming chairs and desks to decoration, storage and lighting, there are a variety of options to create the perfect gaming space.
The best gaming chair for your set up
With so many different types of gaming chair available, it can be hard knowing which one is best for your set up. From low to the ground, L-shaped seats to bean bag type chairs and raised pedestals, we run through your options.
PC gaming chairs
The gamer’s equivalent of office swivel chairs, these ergonomic models offer comfort and support. Some of these PC gaming chairs even include adjustable headrests and lumbar cushions for total body support.
Console gaming chairs
These low to the ground, L-shaped seats are most suited for console gamers. Stationed directly on the floor, gamers are in complete comfort and can lean into the chair, tilting in different directions as they play. Built-in speakers and wireless and vibration technology may be included on higher-end console gaming chairs.
Racing chairs
A racing chair is designed to mimic the experience of driving a real race car. Racing chairs offer a range of features from steering wheel support to an angled footplate for mounting pedal sets for a realistic driving experience.
Dining chairs
Gaming desks
A gaming desk serves as the ideal hub for storing all of your gaming equipment and accessories.
Choosing your gaming desk
It’s important to make sure your gaming desk has enough space for all your equipment while leaving plenty of room for you to move around comfortably. This could be your gaming PC or games console setup, one or more monitors, speakers, a keyboard and other accessories. You should also have plenty of room to position your chair the way you like it.
Desks with storage
Organise your gaming space by choosing a desk with built-in storage. These desks offer plenty of space for storing accessories, hardware and video games. Some of these desks can be fairly large, equating to the size of a table used for playing table football.
Table desks
Short on space? Why not consider a table desk. These table top desks are a more minimal design choice taking up less space than some of their full sized counterparts. Table desks hold 1-2 screens, as well as a keyboard, mouse or controller, and other accessories.

Gaming room décor
Decorating a gaming room is a chance to get creative, choosing fun décor to suit your interests. A good starting point is choosing a theme or colour scheme for your gaming room. Next, add some wall art or ambient lighting, or why not try a neon sign?
Gaming room storage
Gaming is a serious hobby, and one that comes with plenty of equipment. As your collection grows, you’ll likely need storage space for all these things. Having your favourite games on display in a bookcase can make it easier to keep things organised, but you might also prefer to keep your collection under wraps behind closed doors. If you’re short of space, you might want to consider using wall shelves. Wall mounted storage like this can even be positioned directly above your desk, within easy reach of your gaming room setup.
Gaming bed
No space for a desk? Why not try a gaming bed. Often particularly enjoyed by younger gamers, a gaming bed doubles up both as a place to sleep and a comfortable chair for gaming in. Most gaming beds will offer a TV stand and space for multiple consoles, games and accessories. Many of these storage options will allow you to alter their configurations for different gaming room setups.

Gaming accessories
Game room ideas to immerse yourself in your new space, with everything you need from lighting to speakers.
Lighting
Bring your games to life using smart bulbs and lighting strips. Synchronise these with your gaming accessories for an in depth and immersive experience. Smart lights tend to include the option to apply different colour settings, changing the ambience to suit the mood of your game. You might also want to consider whether you need something to block out some of the natural light entering your gaming area such as a blind or curtain, as too much natural light streaming in through the windows may hinder your visibility when gaming.
Headsets
Most gamers have headsets connected to their games console or gaming PC. With a wide range of headsets available on the market, there’s bound to be something suitable for your budget, from basic models to premium brands with noise-cancelling technology. Most models will include a mic, enabling gamers to talk with friends and teammates while playing.
Speakers
Sound is an important part of your gaming space. Most modern video games will benefit from a five or seven speaker set-up or soundbar, providing the gamer with an immersive gaming experience. Soundbars take up very little space, so whatever your set up or space constraints you should be able to include one in the configuration.
