With oil boilers, it is necessary to continuously evaluate the fuel level in the tank to avoid a potential heating outage. To the naked eye, however, this operation is not easy, even risky. Thus, gauges for central heating are necessary and practical for daily use. There are various types, notably pneumatic and mechanical.
The device in question is essentially used to continuously obtain a direct measurement of the fuel level in the tank. Most often, mechanical gauges can reach up to 2.5 meters with their float, while pneumatic ones are capable of measuring up to 3 meters. Apart from these few common characteristics, each type has its own particularities. For example, there are mechanical models adapted for above-ground storage tanks, such as those provided by the AFRISO brand. When measurements are displayed in centimeters, the device's reversible dial generally allows for two ranges of graduations (0 to 1500 mm or 0 to 2500 mm). Additionally, there is a screw-on sealing joint for the tank to prevent unpleasant fuel odors. Featuring a variable diameter float, this type of device is also compatible with biofuel. On the other hand, pneumatic gauges have indications in percentages with a tracking needle. Finally, it is necessary to periodically pay particular attention to this kind of device to ensure it is actually functioning, thus avoiding unpleasant surprises.
