1. Desulfation

The desulfation phase can eliminate the sulfation that occurs in batteries that have been discharged for a long time and fully recharge them. Sulfation occurs when lead sulfate hardens and clogs the battery cells.

2. Bulk (Constant Current)

Bulk mode charges the battery at maximum rate (Constant Current), putting a large amount of energy into the battery in a short period of time. This phase charges the battery to approximately 60% until the voltage reaches 14.7 volts for a 12V charger.

3. Absorption (Constant Voltage)

The charge rate slows down to allow the battery to absorb more energy and reach 80% charge. The voltage stays at a constant 14.7 volts for a 12V charger while the current is gradually reduced until no more energy can be added without overcharging the battery.

4. Float

The float phase keeps the battery at 100% charge without overcharging or damaging the battery. This means the charger can remain connected to the battery indefinitely.

5. Stop - The charger stops charging and stops output.
