Great for a small soak away

I bought a Gabion Basket some time ago and used it to help with my problem of water lying in my front garden. I dug a hole,wrapped the basket in a permiable membrane to let water in and keep soil out. This has served me well. I do need another basket and so I bought this one. As yet I have not installed in in place but if it works as well as my first one then it will have been well worth it. Read more

Strong, easy to assemble

I used four of them, filled with 50mm thick polystyrene sheets and empty 4 and 6 pint plastic milk containers to create floats, creating a 2.4 x 2.4m pontoon platform in a pond. Useful for removing pond weeds and silt. I had to use cable ties along each side of the gabions however to stop the spiral joint connectors from undoing themselves due to the movement. Fixed decking boards onto the top and around the sides using 9mm cable ties with a beaking strength of 75kg. Solid structure, just launched today, floats about 200mm above water level unloaded! fantastic quality gabion

I was really impressed with the quality of the gabion given its price. The individual panels were perfect and the spiral rod connectors tightly fitting so the cage once built was sturdy even without the stone. I have since bought some smaller ones from another retailer which were a different brand and they were flimsy, wobbly and badly finished but a similar price. I would therefore highly recommend vidaXL branded gabions. Read more
