Installation

The DC18RC charger features a cooling fan and Active 3 Controls that maintain optimal charging conditions by regulating voltage, current, and temperature. The cooling system blows cool air into the battery to extend its life and accelerate the charging process.

Usage

When used with charging adapter ADP03, this charger can also charge Ni-MH slide-on batteries ranging from 9.6V to 24V. Additionally, when used with charging adapter ADP04, it can charge Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rod and block batteries from 7.2V to 18V.

Does exactly what I bought it for, good clean cut on low diameter foliage. Seems to be well made, and of course is much lighter than my old petrol driven trimmer. Not too heavy, but perhaps worth taking regular rests when reaching out horizontally at the full extension, I'm now 66yrs old and didn't suffer too much muscle ache after an afternoon of stop/start trimming on approximately 36 yards of 10-11ft conifer hedgerow ("Stop/start" due to constant repositioning of a platform ladder and taking the odd drink on a warm day). The 5amp Makita battery seems to last well, and I was still left with over 50% charge at the end of the above session. I would suggest it may be worth your while to only buy the one battery to begin with, before deciding if you need to shell out for an extra back up battery.
