General description

Liming Wax is a white wax used to create a limed effect on oak and other interior hardwoods. It is perfect for use on Oak, Elm, and other hardwoods.

Installation

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any previous finishes.

Open the grain with a Liberon Bronze Liming Brush.

For softwoods like pine, use a wire brush or coarse abrasive paper to score the timber.

Usage

Work the liming wax into the grain of the wood with Liberon Ultra fine Steel Wool (0000) or a lint-free cotton cloth.

Wipe over with a clean cloth to remove excess wax.

Allow to dry for 3 minutes.

Remove the white haze using a cloth and Wax Polish Black Bison Neutral, or for a water-resistant finish, use Liberon Finishing Oil.

Apply a second coat of Wax Polish Black Bison and buff, or add another coat of oil for increased water resistance and shine.

For enhanced effect, color the wood with Liberon Palette Wood Dye before applying the liming wax.

Other information

Always test the product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for color, compatibility, and end result.

Libéron is a French brand of V33, the leading manufacturer of paints and stains mainly for wood. The group owns the V33, Cecil, Diamantine, Libéron and Plastor brands. It was founded in 1953 in Domblans (Jura). In the 15th century, the royal abbey of Saint-Antoine des Champs obtained a privilege exempting craftsmen from paying taxes when they set up shop on its land. The Seine also provided cabinetmakers in particular with access to their raw materials. Georges Libéron made a name for himself at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900 with his antiseptic and parasiticide polish. One of its variations was the famous Oké paste. In 1990, V33 acquired the Libéron group, which specialised in cabinetmaking products and was the French leader in its field, having invented the legendary Black Bison wax, a decorative product for all surfaces. V33 and Libéron are very committed to protecting the environment: 50% of production is solvent-free, glycol ethers have been eliminated, and great care is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
