General description

Shear nuts, also known as breakaway nuts, inviolable nuts, snap off nuts, security nuts, tamper proof nuts, or permacone nuts, provide a permanent security solution ideal for applications where maintenance is not required. Installation

Tightened using a standard spanner or socket.

The hexagon nut section is fully tightened until the pressure exceeds the maximum torque limit, causing the hexagonal part of the nut to break off.

This leaves a plain tamper-resistant cone shape that is extremely difficult to remove.
