When the planer thicknesser first arrived, one of the parts was broken. This was dealt with quickly and easily and within a couple of days, I had received a new part… fantastic service! Bearing in mind I haven’t owned one of these before (but I do work along side an experienced joiner who has), this machine seems to be great value. The first thing I would say is that the instructions aren’t great so it’s well worth looking it up on YouTube to see how to assemble it before hand, but with a bit of patience, it went together nicely. I haven’t yet used the planer, but the thicknesser works very well indeed so so far, I’m extremely happy with this machine. Hopefully it lasts the test of time!

As I've not used a planer thicknesser before I don't have anything to compare this to. However I was blown away by the power and ease of use (once I had figured it out) The instructions where useless but it was easy enough to figure out how to assemble. I love using this machine now! Doesn't bog down with heavy loads and leaves a great finish straight out of the box. A chip extractor is a must however as it soon clogs up without one!

I have several Metabo machines, they are all well built and do a great job. The PT260 is no exception, very sturdy and produces a very nice finish to the hard and softwood prepared with it. As a seventy year old carpenter and joiner from the old school of tradesmen, I highly recommend the Metabo PT260.

Okay so I bought this as I wanted a decent surface planer ( I have a separate thicknesser) and I must say that it is very good indeed . It is much quieter than my thicknesser which has a hexical cutting head so is meant to be quieter than most others. Also the HC260 needed just a little blade adjustment after assembly , which was handy enough with the help of u tube . Manual isn’t great to be honest. I haven’t used as a thicknesser so can’t comment on that. I’m happy with my purchase , in fact it’s better than I anticipated after reading some not so good reviews .

    METABOVisit the METABO store
METABO, a brand of the German company Metabo Werke Gmbh, is an epitome of German entrepreneurship. It was founded by Albrecht Schnizler in 1923 in Nürtingen (Baden-Württemberg), in the backroom of his parents' bakery. A passionate inventor, he designed the first hand-held drill capable of piercing metal, which was widely used at the time. Named the n°18, it sold over 50,000 units, mainly in Great Britain. In 1929, Metabo Werke was founded with two other partners; METABO derives from the German Metallbohrdreher, hand drill. Innovations in power tools followed one another: in 1950 came the first grinder, the following year the sander, then a year later the quick-release chuck, and in 1957 a world exclusive: the percussion drill... in all, more than 500 patents and designs were registered. METABO continues to manufacture its saws, hedge trimmers and screwdrivers in Germany: in 2005, more than half the company's employees were based in Germany. By 1999, the Group had become Europe's number 1 in woodworking tools, and the world's second largest.
