General description

Osmo Wood Wax Finish Satin in Birch is designed for all-round protection of interior wood surfaces. This product allows the wood grain to remain visible with transparent tones, while intensive tones can effectively hide the grain. It is highly durable, water and dirt resistant, and can withstand common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola, and wine. Additionally, it is saliva-resistant and sweatproof, making it suitable for children's toys. The microporous, breathable finish does not crack, peel, or flake, and spot repairs or future applications can be done without sanding.

Installation

Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and frost-free.

Remove old microporous stains thoroughly and completely strip old paints and lacquers.

Fill small cracks and larger joints or holes with Osmo Wood Filler.

Sand the wood surface carefully, starting with coarse sandpaper; use P120-150 for flooring and P220-240 for furniture.

Remove sanding dust before applying the finish.

For best results, apply the first coat to all sides of the wood before installation.

Usage

For transparent color (one coat): Use Osmo Flat Brush, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece, or Microfibre Roller to apply very thinly along the wood grain.

For a subtle stained effect, apply thinly with a lint-free cloth and wipe away within 20 minutes.

For intensive color (two coats): Apply thinly with Osmo Flat Brush or Microfibre Roller, ensuring the second coat is also thin.

For mechanically loaded areas like flooring, it is recommended to apply a maximum of one coat and a thin top coat with clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original.

For white flooring, use a top coat with lightly white pigmented Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White.

Choose color tones that match or complement the natural tone of the wood.

Other information

Oils enhance the natural color tone of wood, providing a permanent wet effect.

For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g., Wenge, Mahogany, Merbau), it is recommended to use Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.

Regular cleaning can be done using the green Dust-Mop from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors, and damp mopping with Osmo Wash and Care or Osmo Spray-Mop.

Occasional maintenance can be performed with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner or Osmo Maintenance Oil.

Recoating is simple; just reapply one coat onto the clean and dry surface when signs of wear become visible.
