Usage
This varnish is suitable for bare or previously varnished wood but not for painted surfaces. Ensure your room is warm and well-ventilated during application. Follow these steps for best results:
- Wipe the surface with a cloth and white spirit to remove any contaminants.
- Sand the surface with 120 grit sandpaper to smooth out rough patches.
- If there is an old coating, sand away any peeling or flaking areas.
- Allow the wood to dry thoroughly before varnishing.
- Stir the varnish well before use and test the colour on a hidden area.
- Apply an even layer in the direction of the wood grain and wait one hour for it to dry.
- For complete coverage, apply two to three coats, sanding between each coat for a smooth finish.
Aftercare
Once the final coat is dry, clean the wood as usual, ensuring to remove any dirt or grit that could damage the finish. If any areas appear imperfect, sand them smooth and reapply a couple of coats to restore the finish.
