Want to get rid of stains and stubborn marks on your parquet floor? Then come discover our OBBIAFINISH, DURIEU, MILESI varnishes! ManoMano offers you various affordable and quality products: all kinds of varnishes (with or without hardeners), water-based or solvent-based for all types of parquets.
To waterproof your parquet, furniture, or paneling, the varnish is the ultimate product. When applied, it forms a very thin film on your parquet that prevents stains and scratches from setting into the wood permanently.
Before applying the varnish to your parquet, it is important to prepare the surface you want to varnish. If you have just purchased your parquet and want to waterproof it, you simply need to sand it and then apply it in three coats with a brush or roller, as you prefer. However, if you just want to freshen up the parquet in your living room or one of your pieces of furniture, it is better to be meticulous during the preparatory work. Indeed, you will need to fill the cracks in your wood with wood filler, putty, or wax that you can find on our site in the wood care products section. After this renovation step, the varnish is applied in the same way.
The choice of varnish depends on several criteria: for a ready-to-use and fast-drying product, opt for a single-component polyurethane varnish. This way, you can use your product directly without needing to mix it with a hardener, which is an economical formula. If your parquet is old and you are eager to restore it, the appropriate varnish will be the two-component polyurethane varnish: better suited for worn woods due to time or frequent foot traffic (hallways, entrance halls...). For environmentally conscious buyers, you can protect the environment by choosing a water-based varnish, which is diluted and cleanable with water: this product has the advantage of being odorless. A tinted varnish will provide both protection and a design element to your wood. Regarding the appearance of the varnish, the choice mainly depends on your tastes and the aesthetics you want to bring to the surface to be varnished: satin, matte, or gloss finish.
