Indoors, sliding doors can be useful when you do not have enough space to install hinged doors (e.g., if you are converting an attic). You can then place a guide directly into your floor and, with a grooved door, install a sliding door.
Also, take a small rail that generally does not need to support heavy weights (e.g., flat iron rail).
This type of door can easily be used to partition 2 rooms, the door then slides into a double wall and is hidden when opened.

Upper guides (placed high) are often equipped with 2 olives and are fixed to the pillar or wall that supports the gate, stabilizing the gate and its trajectory from above (the olives are upside down and secure the gate). This type of guide is used for house entrances.
