This Hammerite Smooth Direct To Rust Metal Paint is a versatile, durable coating designed for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, certain plastics, and wood. Its unique 3-in-1 formula allows for direct application onto rusty surfaces without the need for a primer or undercoat, saving you time. The paint provides a smooth gloss finish that retains its sheen for years, offering long-lasting protection against rust and weathering, making it ideal for outdoor metal items such as gates, railings, and garden furniture.

Compatibility and accessories

Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, certain plastics, and wood

For galvanized, zinc, or aluminum surfaces, apply a suitable primer before painting

Use with brushes or spray equipment; thinning required for spray application with Thinners at 15%

Installation

Preparation: Remove loose rust, flaking paint, dirt, dust, and grease using a wire brush

Clean the surface with diluted detergent, then rinse and dry thoroughly

Application: Stir well before use; for painted surfaces in good condition, one coat may suffice

For bare or rusty metal, apply two coats, ensuring full coverage of edges and corners

For spray application: Thin with Thinners, set spray gun at 25-35 psi, and apply four thin coats, allowing 1 hour between coats

Usage

Apply with a brush or spray gun in suitable weather conditions (8-25°C)

Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry before painting

Do not over-apply to prevent sagging

Clean brushes with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners after use
