General description

Osmo Stone and Terracotta Oil is a specialized oil designed for exterior stone and terracotta surfaces. It features a unique oil combination that provides protection against dirt and abrasion while being highly water-repellent. This product offers a microporous, breathable finish that does not crack, peel, flake, or blister, making it ideal for materials such as terracotta, granite, limestone, and slate.

Installation

Ensure the surface is absorbent, clean, dry, and frost-free before application.

Stir the oil well before use.

Apply using an Osmo Flat Brush, Floor Brush, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (Hand Pad Holder), or Microfibre Roller, ensuring a very thin application.

Remove any excess product with a pad or lint-free cloth.

For larger areas, excess oil can be removed with a rubber scraper and polished with a buffing machine (white pad).

Allow to dry for 8-10 hours in a well-ventilated area.

Apply a second coat very thinly, removing any excess again.

For previously oiled surfaces, one coat on a cleaned surface is usually sufficient.

Usage

Oils enhance the natural color of the substrate, creating a permanent wet effect.

Trial application is essential to assess the effect on the specific surface.

Be aware that impregnation may influence the slip resistance of the original surfaces.

White or very light-colored surfaces may yellow slightly as a result of the oil treatment.

Non-absorbent surfaces, such as glass, glazed tiles, or ceramics, cannot be treated.

Protect substrates sensitive to solvents, such as plastics like Plexiglas.

Lack of ventilation can delay drying times.

Avoid using power washers, as they can severely decrease the coverage of the finish.

Regular cleaning can be done with Osmo Decking Cleaner and a cleaning brush.

For occasional maintenance, use Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel or Osmo Gard Clean.

Recoating can be done by simply applying one coat onto a clean and dry surface when signs of wear become visible.
