The base seems to be a plastic shell filled with heavy material and not a composite material base, which I thought I was buying. I think the outer will only last a couple of seasons. The tube section to support the parasol is flimsy plastic, secured by a single bolt below, which is hard to access and never tight enough. The parasol leans when placed inside. Not a triumph of engineering frankly.
