Description

General description

Our Pole Mounted Large Colony Double Box is designed for optimal bat habitation, featuring two boxes mounted back to back on a sturdy pole. This configuration allows bats to choose between boxes with different solar gains and thermal conditions throughout the year, enhancing their comfort and well-being.

Technical specifications

  • Overall dimensions of each box: Height 78 cm, Width 34 cm, Depth 13 cm
  • Box materials: Exterior Grade Plywood with ceramic inserts
  • Pole options: 4m, 5m, or 6m with a diameter of 76mm
  • Weight: Box 16 kg; Pole 28 kg (for 5m)
  • Entrance: 17mm wide slot
  • Internal features: 3 internal crevices approximately 20mm wide with 3 ceramic inserts
  • Access: Removable roof secured with 2 screws
  • Fixing: Rail/screw/clip fixing system for attaching the box to the pole
  • Installation

To securely install your Pole Mounted Bat Box, approximately 1m of the pole should be buried below ground. It is recommended to consult a builder or structural engineer, as ground conditions may vary. The pole will be dispatched separately from the bat box and bracket, and only a spanner (or screwdriver for the metal band version) is needed to fix the boxes onto the pole.

    Usage

This bat box is ideal for locations where no suitable building or tree is available for mounting. It can be positioned to maximize solar gain by placing it in an unshaded area or on a hedgerow, ensuring bats have access to optimal conditions.
