Ronseal Exterior Yacht Wood Varnish is a high-quality gloss varnish designed to protect outdoor wood surfaces such as windows and doors throughout the year. This tough traditional varnish is resistant to cracking, peeling, and blistering, ensuring long-lasting protection.

Installation

Ensure wood is dry before application.

Choose a warm (above 10°C) and dry day for application.

Remove old stain or varnish by sanding with 120 grit sandpaper.

Wipe down the surface with white spirit to remove dust.

If using new wood, sand to remove loose fibers and clean with white spirit.

Thoroughly stir the varnish before use.

Test on a small patch to check for color darkening.

Apply with a brush in the direction of the grain.

For best results, apply two or three coats, waiting eight hours between each coat.

Lightly sand before the last coat and clean with white spirit.

Usage

Once dry, clean surfaces as normal to maintain appearance.

Keep surfaces free from dirt and grime.

Clean brushes with white spirit or brush cleaner.

For repairs, sand down damaged areas and reapply a couple of coats.

As good as specialist yacht varnish provided you wait a full day between coats and a full week for the final coat to harden. I use wet 320 between coats. It does add a colour despite being called clear. It's fine on okume iroko and cedar (nice golden hue) . It's easy to wet out too and less than 50% of the cost of others.
