It is a heavy duty vice suitable for people who know what they are doing. It is sophisticated in that it will turn the jaws round through 360 degrees so that you can use either the jaws or opposite clamp at any angle, and the vice itself will also revolve round 360 degrees. The jaws open to a generous 5". It is heavy and needs to be bolted firmly to a rigid bench. It's fault is that although there is a band which is meant to show the tilt of the jaws in degrees, there is no pointer or marker of any sort on the opposite side which sadly makes the band pointless. In my view beginners should start with a smaller and normal standard vice.
