General description

Osmo Decking Oil in Massaranduba is designed to enhance and protect wooden decking while maintaining the natural wood character. This oil is safe for humans, animals, and plants once dry, and it offers high resistance to water and dirt. Its microporous, penetrating finish prevents cracking, peeling, or flaking, and it does not require sanding when topping up the coating.

Installation

Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and frost-free before application.

For bare wood species with high natural extractives, weather for a minimum of 4 weeks before treatment.

Resinous woods like Larch or Douglas Fir should weather for at least 6 weeks.

Pressure impregnated wood and tropical species like Massaranduba require a weathering period of at least 3 months.

Greyed and weathered wood can be refreshed with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel prior to applying the oil.

Lightly sand old microporous stains or remove old varnishes before application.

Apply the first coat to all sides of the wood if possible before installation.

Usage

Stir well before use with a flat stirring stick or spatula.

Apply using a stiff brush (Osmo Flat Brush) or a lint-free cloth, ensuring to follow the wood grain.

For easier application, use the Osmo Decking Brush (150 mm) designed specifically for decking.

Allow for good ventilation while drying; lower temperatures and higher humidity can delay drying.

Apply the second coat thinly once the first coat is dry.

If a lighter color is desired, use clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 for the second coat.

Other information

Always wear a dust mask when sanding.

For additional protection against blue stain, rot, and insect attack, pre-treat the wood with Osmo WR Impregnation if possible on all sides.

The finished surface may vary based on the wood condition; a trial application is recommended for unfamiliar surfaces.
