Osmo Decking Oil in Bog Oak is designed to enhance the natural beauty of wooden decking while providing robust protection. This oil is safe for humans, animals, and plants once dry, and it offers excellent water and dirt resistance. Its microporous, penetrating finish prevents cracking, peeling, or flaking, ensuring long-lasting durability without the need for sanding when reapplying. Ideal for various wood types, it maintains the wood's natural character while providing a protective barrier.

Surface preparation

Bare wood species with high natural extractives require a weathering period of at least 4 weeks before initial treatment.

Resinous woods like Larch or Douglas Fir need a minimum of 6 weeks to improve absorbency.

Pressure impregnated wood and tropical species (e.g., Massaranduba, Bangkirai, Garapa, Iroko) should weather for at least 3 months.

Cedar also requires a 3-month weathering period.

Greyed and weathered wood can be refreshed with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel before applying the oil.

Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and frost-free before application.

Installation

Stir the oil well using a flat stirring stick or spatula before use.

Clean or lightly sand old microporous stains or completely remove old varnishes prior to application.

If sanding is necessary, use a finishing grade of no more than P120 grit and wear a dust mask.

For absorbent wood, apply the first coat to all sides before installation if possible.

Usage

Apply the oil thinly and evenly along the wood grain using a stiff brush (Osmo Flat Brush) or a lint-free cloth.

For easier application, use the Osmo Decking Brush (150 mm), designed specifically for decking.

Ensure good ventilation during the drying process; lower temperatures and higher humidity can delay drying.

After the first coat is dry, apply a second coat thinly. For a lighter color, use clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 for the second coat.

Choose darker colors for enhanced UV protection, but avoid using clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 as a standalone finish due to limited UV protection.
