Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint is a high-quality, water-based paint designed to provide a tough and durable finish for metal surfaces. It can be applied directly to rust without the need for a primer, offering 15 years of protection. The paint features a quick recoat time and becomes showerproof in just 30 minutes, making it ideal for both interior and exterior applications.

Compatibility and accessories

Compatible with metal surfaces such as steel, cast iron, aluminium, and stainless steel

Can be applied directly over rust and previously painted surfaces in good condition

Compatible with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment

Installation

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, grease, and loose rust or paint

Remove loose rust or paint with a wire brush or sandpaper

For previously painted surfaces in good condition, lightly sand with 240 grit sandpaper

For flaking paint, remove completely before application

Stir the paint thoroughly before use

Apply 2-3 coats, allowing 2-4 hours between coats

For spray application, dilute with about 10% water or as specified for your sprayer

Usage

Apply with a brush, roller, or spray gun for best results

Allow each coat to dry for 2-4 hours before applying the next

For enhanced durability, apply three coats, especially on rusty metal

Touch dry in 30 minutes after the final coat
