General description

Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint is a high-quality, water-based paint that provides a tough and durable finish to metal surfaces. It can be applied directly to rust without the need for a primer, making it easy to use. This paint offers 15 years of protection and is suitable for various metal surfaces, including steel, cast iron, aluminium, and galvanised steel. It dries quickly, becoming showerproof in just 30 minutes, and covers up to 8m² per litre.

Installation

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease.

Remove loose rust or paint with a wire brush or sandpaper.

For previously painted surfaces, lightly sand or remove flaking paint.

Stir the paint thoroughly before application.

Apply 2-3 coats, allowing 2-4 hours between coats.

Usage

Apply directly to rust or prepared metal surfaces.

Use a brush, roller, or spray, diluting with water if necessary for spraying.

Allow each coat to dry for 2-4 hours; touch dry in 30 minutes after the final coat.

For best results, apply 3 coats on rusty or heavily corroded metal.

Other information

To maintain the finish, inspect annually and touch up any imperfections with additional coats.

Clean brushes and rollers with warm soapy water after use.
