Description

General description

CIP (Corrosive Inhibiting Primer) is a rust-inhibiting primer designed for extreme conditions. It features anti-corrosive properties from Owatrol Oil, allowing it to penetrate deep into surfaces, driving out moisture and air to create a stable layer. This primer is suitable for both new and rusted surfaces, can be applied on horizontal and vertical surfaces, and is compatible with single and 2-pack paints. Its brick-red pigmentation enhances protection and film-forming qualities, making it ideal for use in marine and tropical environments.

Application temperature: 5˚C to 35˚C

Application tools: Brush, Roller, Airless Sprayer (0.4 mm x 80˚ @ 1860-2000psi (128-138 bars))

Installation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and contaminants.

Remove all mill scale, loose rust, and old paint to a sound surface.

Wash surfaces exposed to chemicals with water or steam clean.

Usage

For new surfaces: Apply 1 coat of Owatrol CIP and allow to dry; for aggressive conditions, apply 2 coats.

For clean, lightly rusted surfaces: Apply 2 coats, allowing drying time between coats.

For old or severely rusted surfaces: Apply 3 coats or use wet on wet applications of Owatrol Oil until saturation, then apply 2 coats of Owatrol CIP.

For previously coated surfaces: Spot prime exposed metal with 2 coats, then apply a 3rd coat over the entire area.

Clean tools with white spirit while still wet; if dried, use paint stripper.

Other information

Note: Rags and steel wool soaked in CIP may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded; saturate with water or place in a sealed, water-filled metal container before disposal.

Cover areas not intended for painting.

Do not apply in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.

Nice covering of the few slightly rusty wheel arches. The paint holds up well. To be seen over time but apparently it's the best.

The product is of good quality. On the other hand, the paint pot arrived dented and leaked a little in the package.
